Together they were instrumental in uniting business owners and citizens alike to re-
duce crime and create a safer environment to the small community. He then went on
to become the founder of the Economic Develop-
ment Council where he worked to get the federal
government to assist in the development of water
and electricity for San Felipe. He then spend 10
years as the head of the Fish & Game Department
but decided to leave government and went into
the restaurant business. Octavio Ascolani has
owned and operated several popular restaurants
in San Felipe, including the Beachcomber in the
1990’s, and currently The Taco Factory and Baja
Mar on San Felipe Malecon. Octavio still remains
very active in the social workings of the San
Felipe community, specially in the Malecon area.
He can often be seen sitting in his restaurant greeting customers as they arrive with a
smile and a handshake. Next time you are there, say hello and ask him about “The
Magic Tide.” I guarantee it will put a smile on his face.
