that on our own, we invited friends to join us, and that created our first vol-
unteer community group which seeded on us the love of giving back to the
community. Our group grew to over 160 young people, and for our efforts we
won a price in Baja California for our community work in San Felipe.
As time has gone by and I have become a mother and a business owner,
the amount of free time I have has been reduced considerably, but that does
not mean that I don’t
continue supporting
good causes. As a Mu-
nicipal First Lady it is
customary for me to get
heavily involved on DIF
program (National Sys-
tem for Integral Family
Development), but I
knew I couldn’t not give
the amount of time and
effort that program re-
quired and deserve, so I
have taken a back seat to the people who currently managing that program,
and taking more of a supporting role rather than an active role; to that effect I
have contribute my time to the DIF 3 Kings Day charity toy/meals and blanket
drive. I am also open to help anyone who request my time for a worthwhile
cause providing my schedule allows it.
Q: How did you felt when your husband decided to enter into politics?
A: Well, I felt so many mix emotions,
worried, afraid, happy, but not really
surprised as I have always admired
Jose Luis’s love of the people and of
San Felipe. Even though my husband
is originally from Sinaloa, he considers
San Felipe his birth home, as he’s been
here since he was a baby. He has al-
ways been very involved in the commu-
nity and interested in politics. So it came
as no surprise when he announced he
was going to be involved in San Felipe’s
political life.
